Professor Kasper Iversen has been a consistent contributor to clinical cardiological research since 2001.
Much of his research has focused on discovering new, safer, and efficient treatment and examination standards.
This research has improved prognostic knowledge and quality of patient care. In January 2019 he published the results of the POET (Peroral Treatment of EndocardiTis) study in the New England Journal of Medicine. The paper details a novel approach to the antibiotic treatment of infective endocarditis.
In addition, Kasper Iversen has been supervisor for multiple PhD students. He is currently the primary clinical and academic supervisor for seven PhD students and eight medical students. They conduct clinical research at the departments of cardiology and emergency medicine at Herlev Hospital.
In January 2020, Kasper Iversen was named Clinical Professor of Emergency medicin at the University of Copenhagen. In 2021 Kasper Iversen was named interim chief physician of the Department of Emergency medicine, Herlev-Gentofte Hospital. From September onwards, he serves as Head of Emergency Medical Research at Herlev-Gentofte Hospital.
In 2016, together with Professor Henning, Bundgaard Professor Kasper Iversen co-founded The Copenhagen Baby Heart Study. They both serve as senior project managers.
