Pia R. Kamstrup (1974), MD PhD, is Head of Department at the Department of Clinical Biochemistry, Copenhagen University Hospital – Herlev and Gentofte, Denmark. She graduated as a medical doctor in 2002 from the University of Copenhagen and has specialized in laboratory medicine. Dr. Kamstrup earned her PhD in the field of genetic epidemiology in 2008 from the University of Copenhagen. She continues to work with large population studies, including the Copenhagen Baby Heart Study and the Copenhagen General Population Study as a steering committee member, exploring the genetic background of cardiovascular disease with a strong focus on lipoprotein(a). She has contributed to international research collaborations, consensus and statement papers on lipoprotein(a), and randomized clinical trials of lipoprotein(a) lowering.
